| THE SECOND MEGA DRIVE TOURNAMENT |

After the success of the First Mega Drive Tournament, the second competition was held six-months after José Chança's victory at the inaugural contest. Sadly the winner did not return to defend his title and instead twenty players fought for the crown, for the tournament title. Fifteen of the original twenty returned for the second contest and of the new members it was Jorge Esteves who made the greatest impact winning the tournament following a duel against his brother, Flávio Esteves, in a Ken Vs Blanka encounter on Street Fighter 2: Championship Edition. Flávio had appeared at the First Tournament where he had managed to reach Stage Two but, despite impressive performances this time around, including winning the first round of the final, was unable to hold his lead and was beaten by Jorge - who scored a perfect in round three. Fátima Campos was the only member who made it to Stage Three in both the First and Second Tournamnets. She was once again beaten in the Semi-Finals, having negociated arguably the toughest of the Stage Two groups, this time she came undone to Jorge Esteves on Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Orlando Silva also made the final four - he had previously been beaten in the Stage Two playoffs at the First Tournament. First Tournament finalist Filipe Semião made it to Stage Two where he finished bottom of his group.

The structure of the Second Tournament was indentical to that of the first. The main changes came in the form of games in which turn based ones, like Sonic Spinball, were abandoned in favour of head-to-heads.
