THE MEGA DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Mega Drive Championships are series of video games contests taking place on Sega's classic 16-bit console that span the globe. The pinnacle of all these is the annually held European Mega Drive Championships where representatives from across the continent meet to challenge each other in a glorious retro game battle.

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The inaugural International contest was an awesome Anglo-Irish Tournament held in 2007. The 2010 Championship was held in Nuremberg, Germany and the hosts went to every length to ensure an enjoyable tournament was had by all. Following a six-hour 16-bit fest, Portugal claimed their third successive title, winning comfortably from second place Germany. The focus of the competitions is on friendly competitions, the enjoyability of playing some classic games, with excellent company and good coffee. No Casino Games were used at the European Championships.

DOMESTIC MEGA DRIVE COMPETITIONS

The International competitions are fuelled by some intensely passionate domestic events. The English league, founded in 2001, is the oldest surviving Mega Drive competition in the world. Qualification for the European Mega Drive Championship has quickly become the focus for the English, German and Portuguese leagues, however, tournaments are also hosted in Brazil and the United States of America. We are always on the lookout for additional members and nations to join our expanding family and we encourage anyone interested in assembling a three person teams to join in an array of 16-bit button bashing at its most awesome.
