Mega Drive Championship Article Archive 2010-2011

Listed chronologically, Mega Drive Championship articles from the years 2010 and 2011. This period of tournament history saw a decline of global Mega Drive Championshippery, with mid-2010 seeing the final tournament to be contested outside of Europe. Although Portugal dominated the International scene, domestically, the legends of Europe decided to abandon their competitions and organise a more casual 16-bit contests. Only England and Germany continued unabated in their passion for Mega Drive gaming and the desire to be crowned Champion.

The Day Mega Drive Championshippery Died

Portugal has long been a world leader of Mega Drive, however, since 2011 the competitions have struggled until finally Mega Drive in Portugal died. Having been hosts of domestic Mega Drive tournaments since 2005, the end is felt with extreme sorrow. World Cup Italia '90 Challenge

In the beginning there was World Cup Italia '90... the first ever competitive Mega Drive game used in January 2001 when Lord Dilks beat Doc Shakib 16-1 in the First English Championship. Now, to celebrate ten-years of tournaments, World Cup Italia '90 has been selected as the Challenge game for the Twenty-Third Tournament, albeit with a few tweaks to the winning conditions.

Seventeenth Tournament Knockout Final (Video)

Ok, this epic battle occurred nearly four years ago, but here for prosperity's sake, using special video techniques, is the conclusion of the Seventeenth Mega Drive Tournament when Doc Shakib battled Earl Holbrook on the awful WWF Super Wrestlemania. I.R.S. Vs Hulk Hogan to decide the fate of the Knockout Shield. The audience were not impressed with this one!
