Endorsed by Sega of Germany! It had been a year since the three great nations (yes we're including England in this) gathered together to battle on the Mega Drive to determine once again which nation was worthy of the title Mega Drive Champions. 2010 saw a new team emerge to challenge for the title in the form of Team Hungary. After nearly seven hours of fierce retro competition, the controllers lay silent and Portgual were crowned Champions for a third successive year. The Germans performed stronger on home soil than the previous year, but they were unable to repeat their form from 2008 and fell behind the pace of the incredible Portuguese. The newcomers Team Hungary finished in third place while the English finished in a very familiar last spot. 2010 saw the inclusion of 1-player games for the first time, with Pedro Bragança's awe inspiring display on Sonic the Hedgehog arguably the highlight of the event. |

Almost a year after the last battle, the contestants descended upon Lisbon to fight for the 2009 European Mega Drive Championship. Team Portugal's Dário Pelixo summed the competition nicely; "It was a close fight... between England and Germany, we kicked your arses!" The Portuguese were dominant from the start while Germany struggled to get ahead of the English, however, in the end the league table finished indentically to the previous year and the ten extra fixtures than 2008 perhaps dragged the competition out longer than necessary. The pivotal point between the English and Germans came in a hard fought German victory on NHL '96, in which the 3-1 scoreline flattered the winners. The day belonged to Portugal who successfully defended their title and added a second piece of silverware to their collection! |

The European Mega Drive Championship took place on Sunday 26th October 2008. The contest raged for over four-hours: across thirty games from varying genres. It was teams Germany and Portugal who went head-to-head for league supremacy, leaving the English to fade into third place. The early part of the competition saw Germany take the advantage, however, the stern resolve of the Portuguese Team, combined with dominance on the 3-player games, caused them to haul in the Germans and eventually take top-spot. The tournament came down to the final game with Portugal two-points ahead and Germany requiring a win to force the tiebreak. On Street Fighter 2: Championship Edition Portugal earned victory, the league, the trophy and the glory.

Heroes of England and Ireland assembled on Sunday 2nd September 2007 to contest across numerous Mega Drive games for the title of Champion. The event lasted for five hours and saw the teams battle it out on twenty two-players and five four-player games. The first half of the tournament was a close affair with Team England keeping their noses ahead in the early stages. The second half of the tournament saw the pedulum swing to the Irish and they procceeded to remorselessly brush their opponents aside, securing their position at the top of the league with five games remaining.
