In 2001 the Mega Drive Championship were born and the first ever game played on was World Cup Italia '90. Lord Dilks beat Doc Shakib 16-1. Since then over 600 tournament games have been contested and although World Cup Italia '90 has hardly been a tournament favourite, the high skill level required to compete secures its place in the Division One game pool. Concentration, reflexes and endurance are vital with slow response times and manual goalkeepers making control treacherous. Most new players enter the game with the mantra of "just hit A", however, to be truly effective then incorporation of the B & C buttons must happen. Lord Dilks is ranked as the best player on Italia '90, with an undefeated record over twenty-nine games and an all time high-score of 44-0. Mr Smith is ranked second. Aside from these two, no other member has truly mastered World Cup Italia '90 and games between them are now often tightly contested affairs.
