LIEUTENANT GARETH

NINETEENTH TOURNAMENT REVIEW

Lieutenant Gareth returned to Division One following promotion at the Eighteenth Mega Drive Championship. His experience was able to pay dividends as he successfully finished in third place, his highest finish in four tournaments. In spite of never really challenging the top two for the title, he was able to comfortably avoid the relegation battle. After winning the Knockout last time round, Lieutenant Gareth was a surprise elimination in the Knockout where he was beaten, in Round 1, by The Plumb. He finished fourth in the Sonic the Hedgehog Challenge, with a final time of 31 seconds.

TOURNAMENT HISTORY

Lieutenant Gareth originally battled in the Tenth Mega Drive Championship during which time he successfully beat Doc Shakib and Professor Mizutani to the honour of winning Division Two. It was not until the Fourteenth Mega Drive Championship that he returned, this time he convincingly won a place in Division One as well as reaching the Knockout final where he was narrowly beaten by Mr Smith in an epic fight for the Knockout Shield. His highest finish came at the Fifteenth Championship where he finished in third place behind Lord Dilks and Mr Smith, but after that his fortunes faded and he was relegated at the Seventeenth Tournament, by just a single goal. He bounced back immediately, finishing in the second Division Two promotion place and winning the Tournament Knockout after defeating Commander Graham in the Primal Rage final, and was able to cement a third placed position, in Division One, at the Nineteenth Championship.

INTERNATIONAL STAGE

Lieutenant Gareth participated in the Anglo-Irish Tournament in 2007. He acquitted himself well and was ranked as the third best of the five Englishmen with comprehensive victories on Road Rash 3 and WWF Super Wrestlemania. Lieutenant Gareth failed to qualify for the subsequent European Mega Drive Championship owing to his low league position at the Eighteenth Tournament.
