Columns was added for the Fifteenth Mega Drive Championship as both a Division One and Two game. It is the only puzzle game in the contests and provides one of the most thought provoking situations in the tournament. Members must group together similar coloured jewels into sets of three or more in order to remove them with the ultimate aim is to remove the flashing jewel and earn victory, however, a game will be lost if a member fills up his screen. Division One members play on the Pro level, which has six different coloured gems, while Division Two games are contested on the Amateur level, which is slightly more forgiving with just five coloured jewels.
