NINETEENTH TOURNAMENT REVIEW

Prior to the Nineteenth Championship, Captain Maltby doubted his credentials as a serious promotion candidate, however, showed his ability by finishing in second-place and earning promotion back to Division One after just one tournament away. In spite of a dismal start to his return to the lower league, with defeats at the hands of Fireman Sam and Liam Forrest Esquire, Captain Maltby steadily accumulated points in order to rise up the league and end with sixteen points. Captain Maltby's performances in the Tournament Knockout have declined since he won the competition at the Fifteenth Championship and he was once again eliminated in the Second Round. He gave an excellent account of himself in the Sonic the Hedgehog Challenge and took just one second longer than the eventual winner Professor King.

TOURNAMENT HISTORY

During early tournaments, Captain Maltby was the competition whipping boy, however, after an absence of eight Mega Drive Championship as well and various evolutions to the competition structure, the man known as Captain Maltby returned to the fold rejuvenated. He established himself at the highest level of U.K. Mega Drive gameplay finishing in second place at the Seventeenth Tournament and even won the Tournament Knockout at the Fifteenth Championship. He was relegated to Division Two after a four tournaments in the top league, but secured promotion immediately at the Nineteenth Mega Drive Championship.

INTERNATIONAL STAGE

Captain Maltby participated in the Anglo-Irish Tournament in 2007. He qualified owing to his second placed finish at the Seventeenth Mega Drive Championship, but was only able to pick up three-points for the English Team. Relegation at the Eighteenth Tournament cost him a place at the European Mega Drive Championship.
